Punjab Govt Establishes Rs500 Million Fund for Artists Under Artist Khidmat Card

The Government of Punjab has launched a major welfare initiative for deserving artists by establishing a Rs500 million special fund.

The program has been introduced under the Punjab Artist Khidmat Card to provide financial protection and social support to artists across the province. Under the scheme, eligible artists will receive a monthly stipend of Rs5,000.

In the first phase, 63 deserving artists have already been paid Rs15,000 each. Payments will be made through the Bank of Punjab to ensure transparency.

Officials revealed that 2,702 applications were received, and after scrutiny, 1,831 artists were declared eligible. Their data has been shared with the Punjab Social Protection Authority for fund disbursement.

The scheme also includes additional benefits:

  • Educational grant: Rs300,000

  • Medical grant: Rs200,000

  • Other assistance: Rs100,000

A monthly pension of Rs10,000 to Rs15,000 for artists above 80 years is also under consideration, along with a relief scheme for artists aged over 54.
