Mera Ghar Mera Aashiyana Scheme: Loan Limit Increased to Rs10 Million

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved major revisions to the Mera Ghar Mera Aashiyana (MGMA) low-cost housing scheme, including an increase in the loan limit to Rs10 million (one crore).

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. According to the Ministry of Finance, the committee approved expanding the eligible size of housing units and setting a uniform 5% markup rate for all borrowers.

The revised framework also ensures that previously issued loans will be adjusted to the same 5% rate to maintain uniformity. The scheme will continue to be implemented through the State Bank of Pakistan.

Officials informed the meeting that over 10,594 loan applications have been received so far, reflecting strong public interest. The updated policy aims to make home ownership easier for low- and middle-income families, boost the construction sector, and create employment opportunities.

The government emphasized that subsidy payments will remain within annual fiscal limits to ensure sustainability.
