Is Multan Sultans Returning to the PSL? Latest Ownership Update

Fresh developments in the Pakistan Super League have sparked speculation about a possible return of the Multan Sultans brand, following a major ownership shift involving the Sialkot Stallionz franchise.

According to recent reports, CD Ventures — led by cricket enthusiast Gohar Shah — has acquired a 98% stake in the Stallionz from OZ Developers. The move comes after weeks of uncertainty and internal disagreements surrounding the franchise’s ownership structure.

Ownership Dispute and Transition

The Stallionz were originally purchased by OZ Developers earlier this year for a record amount. However, the situation soon became complicated due to reported disagreements among stakeholders and the exit of Australia-based Alpha Sports Group, which had initially been announced as a major partner.

Public claims and counterclaims about majority shareholding further fueled confusion. Despite the controversy, OZ Group maintained that no unauthorized transactions had taken place and that the franchise remained committed to preparing for its PSL debut.

With the reported sale of 98% shares to CD Ventures, effective control of the team has now shifted — pending formal approval from the Pakistan Cricket Board.

What About Multan Sultans?

The ownership reshuffle has reignited fan speculation about whether the Multan Sultans name could make a return in some form.

While no official announcement has been made regarding a rebranding, social media discussions have already begun circulating possible name changes and identity shifts ahead of the upcoming season.

At this stage, any decision regarding the franchise’s name, branding, or identity will require PCB approval.

What Happens Next?

The team is expected to participate in the upcoming PSL season, scheduled to begin in late March. Whether it competes as the Stallionz or under a revised identity remains to be confirmed.

For now, fans will have to wait for an official statement from the PCB regarding the franchise’s final ownership structure and branding.
